# The best family hotels in Barbados

Written 2026-11-03 by Play Day. Where to stay in Barbados with kids, from all-inclusives with kids' clubs on the livelier south coast to the calmer water of the west coast.

Barbados has grilled fish and macaroni pie at the [Oistins Fish Fry](https://ourplayday.com/places/oistins-fish-fry-oistins), sea turtles and shipwrecks to snorkel over in [Carlisle Bay](https://ourplayday.com/places/carlisle-bay-beach-bridgetown), and even a [real submarine](https://ourplayday.com/places/atlantis-submarines-barbados-bridgetown) that dives down to the reef. Plenty of the resorts have kids' clubs, teen lounges and suites big enough for everyone.

## The south coast

The south coast is the livelier side, with casual restaurants and bars and more mid-range places to stay. St Lawrence Gap is its busiest strip, with music and late dinners, and on Friday nights the [Oistins Fish Fry](https://ourplayday.com/places/oistins-fish-fry-oistins) has shacks grilling fish beside the fish market, a DJ and dancing.

### [Sea Breeze Beach House](https://ourplayday.com/places/sea-breeze-beach-house-christ-church)

Beach: Maxwell Beach

Sea Breeze leans toward families with younger kids. The Lil Dippers kids' club runs indoors and out, teens have the Shore Break Lounge, and a free Infant Essentials Pack brings baby baths, bouncers, bottle warmers and sterilizers. Out on the water there's a floating trampoline.

One of the three pools is for families and one is adults only. Families who have stayed describe two stretches of beach: the one by the family pool, for water sports, and a calmer, more secluded one a short walk around. Suites go up to four bedrooms.

### [Turtle Beach, Barbados, A Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resort](https://ourplayday.com/places/turtle-beach-by-elegant-hotels-christ-church)

Beach: Near St Lawrence Gap

Turtle Beach has a children's splash pool, a jungle gym and the Flying Fish Kids Club. Kids can become Honorary Bajans, a course in the local lingo and Bajan cooking and baking that ends with a pin, a certificate and a Bajan passport (pretty cute).

Lots of guests have spotted baby turtles on the beach. The restaurants and bars of St Lawrence Gap are within walking distance.

### [Bougainvillea Barbados](https://ourplayday.com/places/bougainvillea-barbados-christ-church)

Beach: Maxwell Beach

Every room at Bougainvillea has a kitchen or kitchenette, and the one-bedrooms have a sofa bed in a living room big enough for kids to sleep out there. The pools wind through the gardens, with a swim-up bar and a quieter adults-only pool.

There's a games room and a playroom, and boogie boards are free to borrow. St Lawrence Gap is about a ten-minute walk and the Oistins Fish Fry about 20, or five minutes in a taxi.

### [O2 Beach Club and Spa](https://ourplayday.com/places/o2-beach-club-and-spa-christ-church)

Beach: Dover Beach

O2 is the smaller, more upmarket sister of Sea Breeze, and it's aimed at families with teens: there's a teen lounge, and the swim-up bar makes virgin coladas and milkshakes. The river pool, the Brisa pool and the Sun Terrace are for over-17s, and every restaurant has a children's menu.

Families stay in the Concierge Collection suites. The one-bedroom sleeps two adults and two children and the two-bedroom four adults and two children.

## The west coast

The west coast, the Platinum Coast, has the calmer water and the more polished resorts. Holetown has shops and restaurants, and [Folkestone Marine Park](https://ourplayday.com/places/folkestone-marine-park-holetown) there has a snorkel trail on a protected reef.

### [Tamarind, Barbados, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort](https://ourplayday.com/places/tamarind-by-elegant-hotels-st-james)

Beach: Paynes Bay

Tamarind is on Paynes Bay, where the water is calm, and its free water sports include the motorized kind: waterskiing, tubing and banana boats, plus paddleboards and snorkeling. Some suites interconnect, and one pool is adults only.

The kids' club is big and well staffed, and teens get their own den with table tennis. A free water taxi runs to its sister resorts on the west coast.

The Treehouse Club is free for hotel guests and takes kids from 3, with the Toddler Corner on its upper level; under-3s can come too, with a parent, a babysitter or a nanny. Teens have The Den, with pool tables, foosball, computer stations and big TVs.

Sports camps for 7- to 16-year-olds do waterskiing, tennis, golf and soccer, and kids get themed buffet dinners at the Spa Dome over the holidays. The rooms are big.
