# Split family hotels, area by area

Written 2026-10-06 by Play Day. Nine family hotels in Split, Croatia, from old town apartments to pebble-beach resorts, with cots, suites, pools and a kids club.

Le Meridien Lav is the one with a kids club and its own beach, and Radisson Blu Resort & Spa is the other beach resort, closer to the city. For a second room in the old town, look at Divota Apartment Hotel (apartments with kitchens) or Camera Hotel (interconnected rooms). Hotel Park Split is the one across the road from Bačvice beach.

The real choice in Split is between sleeping inside the old town and sleeping by the water. The old town is a walk to everything and has no beach of its own. Bačvice, Trstenik and Podstrana have the water, and you take a bus, a taxi or a short walk to get into town. The sections follow that: the old town, the Bačvice side of the city, and the resorts east of it.

Most beaches around Split are pebble, not sand. Bačvice is the city's best-known beach. Pebble beaches are hard on bare feet, so water shoes are worth packing for any of the beach resorts.

## How we picked

We kept to hotels with something real for kids: cots, a second room or suite, a pool or a kids club. Distances are straight line, from the hotel's pin to the Peristyle in Diocletian's Palace, so the walk is longer than the number.

## Inside and beside the old town

Four hotels within a few hundred metres of Diocletian's Palace. None has a beach, and all of them are a walk from the ferry, the Riva and dinner.

### [Divota Apartment Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/divota-apartment-hotel-split)

Part of Split: Veli Varoš, about 600 m straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The Split pick for cooking: apartments near the old town with full kitchens and a washer, plus a villa for a bigger group.

The one to book if you want to cook. The apartments are spread over a few buildings in Veli Varoš, with full kitchens and a washer, and there's a 110 m² three-bedroom villa with a courtyard jacuzzi for a bigger group. Cots are available.

It's a scattered hotel, so your apartment can be a short walk from the front desk, and there's no pool or kids club. It suits a week in the city with kids who eat at odd hours, and not a family that wants a pool day.

Tip: Ask which building your apartment is in before you book, and whether it's the one with the courtyard.

- Cribs: Yes
- Fridge: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes
- Laundry: Yes

### [Camera Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/camera-hotel-split)

Part of Split: Old town, about 450 m straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The old town hotel with interconnected suites, so a family gets two rooms in the middle of town.

A restored 18th-century house with a photography collection and only a handful of rooms. The suites have interconnected rooms, and there are board games and puzzles to borrow, which matters on a hot afternoon with nowhere to be.

There's no pool, so the sea is a taxi or a long walk away. It's small and quiet, which is good for a family that wants a two-room suite in the middle of town and not so good for kids who need to run.

- Connecting rooms: Yes
- Suites: Yes

### [Cornaro Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/cornaro-hotel-split)

Part of Split: Old town, about 200 m straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The closest of the nine to the palace, with a welcome gift, a colouring book and cots, for a family that wants to walk everywhere.

The closest of the nine to the palace. Kids get a welcome gift and a colouring book, cots are available, and the rooftop has a hot tub.

It's a hotel with standard rooms and a suite, not an apartment, so if you're a family of four check the room's bed set-up before you book. Being in the middle of the old town means evening noise from the streets and bars below.

- Cribs: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Pool: Yes

### [Hotel Luxe Split](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-luxe-split-split)

Part of Split: Near the old town, about 350 m straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The edge-of-the-old-town pick for a separate living room with a pullout sofa and breakfast included, in suites that sleep up to four.

The suites have a separate living room with a pullout sofa and sleep up to four, and a full buffet breakfast comes with the room. It's on the edge of the old town rather than in it.

No beach, and no kids club or pool that we could confirm. It suits a family that wants the living room and breakfast sorted and plans to spend the day out.

- Suites: Yes
- Free breakfast: Yes

## Bačvice and the city beach side

Bačvice is the beach Split goes to, about 1 km straight line from the palace. These three sit on or just behind it, which means you can walk to the water and still get into town.

### [Hotel Park Split](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-park-split-split)

Part of Split: Bačvice, about 850 m straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The one to choose when the beach is the point: across the road from Bačvice, with suites and a walkable city behind it.

The hotel to pick if the beach is the point of the trip and you still want a walkable city. It sits in its own gardens across the road from Bačvice, with suites that have a separate bedroom and living room, and two-storey sea-view rooms with a gallery bedroom. Cots are available.

The room with a gallery bedroom puts kids in a loft, which suits older ones better than toddlers. It's a hotel and not a resort, so there's no kids club.

- Cribs: Yes
- Suites: Yes

### [Briig Boutique Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/briig-boutique-hotel-split)

Part of Split: Bačvice side, about 750 m straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The Bačvice-side pick for space: big suites, a cot in the room and the beach a few minutes on foot.

Rooms come with a cot, and the suites are big: a 40 m² Junior Suite and a 60 m² Executive Suite with a dining room. Booking.com lists a rooftop pool, and Bačvice beach is a few minutes on foot.

It's a boutique hotel, so there's no kids club and no kids pool, and the rooftop pool is for everyone. It suits a family that wants a big room and the beach nearby.

- Cribs: Yes
- Suites: Yes

### [Marvie Hotel & Health](https://ourplayday.com/places/marvie-hotel-health-split)

Part of Split: Near Bačvice, about 1.5 km straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The one for outside summer, with an indoor pool open all year and a Deluxe room whose extra bed fits two kids.

An indoor pool that's open all year, plus a seasonal rooftop infinity pool. The Deluxe room has a king bed and an extra bed that fits two kids.

A wellness hotel first, so there's no kids club, and it's further from the old town than the others in this section. It's the one to book outside summer, when you'll want the indoor pool.

- Suites: Yes
- Pool: Yes, indoor

## The beach resorts east of Split

Two resorts on pebble beaches. You trade the old town for a proper resort week, and Split is a bus or taxi ride away.

### [Le Meridien Lav, Split](https://ourplayday.com/places/le-meridien-lav-split-split)

Part of Split: Podstrana, about 8 km straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The resort with a kids club, plus its own pebble beach, a paddling pool and an indoor heated pool for bad weather.

The family resort: the Penguin Kids Club takes children from 3 to 12, there's a separate paddling pool, and the pools include an indoor heated one for a bad weather day. Suites include a three-bedroom for up to five and a two-bedroom family suite.

The beach is an 800 m stretch of pebbles right outside, so it's the one where kids can go from room to water without a taxi. It's a drive from the old town, so most days you'll stay put.

Tip: Take water shoes: the beach is pebble the whole way.

- Suites: Yes
- Pool: Yes, indoor, heated
- Drop-off kids' club: Yes

### [Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Split](https://ourplayday.com/places/radisson-blu-resort-spa-split-split)

Part of Split: Trstenik, about 2.5 km straight line from the Peristyle

Why we picked it: The beach resort closer to the city, with a kids pool, a private section of Trstenik beach and suites for a family with one child.

The resort closest to the city. The 60 and 62 m² balcony and terrace suites sleep three or four adults plus one kid up to 12, and there's a kids pool and a private section of Trstenik pebble beach.

Booking.com says the beach is down a flight of about 100 stairs, which rules it out with a stroller or tired toddlers. The suites also top out at one child, so a family with two kids needs a different room type.

- Suites: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes
- Pool: Yes

## Cots

Briig Boutique Hotel, Cornaro Hotel, Divota Apartment Hotel and Hotel Park Split have cots available. Ask for the cot when you book, not when you arrive.
