# 2 nights at Mount Fuji with kids

Written 2026-10-14 by Play Day. Two nights at Mount Fuji with kids, at the Fuji Speedway Hotel: the direct bus from Shinjuku, the motorsports museum downstairs, a track session kids can ride along on, and the outlets with the mountain behind them.

Up close, Mount Fuji fills the whole window. The Fuji Speedway Hotel is a Hyatt beside the racetrack on the southeast side of the mountain, with a motorsports museum in the same building and a track you can drive. Two nights there make a trip for car-loving kids, and it adds onto [4 days in Tokyo](https://ourplayday.com/guides/japan/tokyo/4-days-in-tokyo).

We did two nights and it was the perfect amount: one day to get there and settle in, one full day there, and no rushing.

## Where to stay

Everything on the plan is at the hotel or a short ride from it, so you stay put both nights.

- [Fuji Speedway Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/fuji-speedway-hotel): Its balconies face either Mount Fuji or the circuit, and it's part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection. Standard rooms start at 43 square meters, and several Deluxe rooms and suites sleep four with a sofa bed. The villas have a kitchen and room for four adults and two children. The hot spring bath takes kids from age 4. Confirmed on the listing: pool.

## At a glance

- Walking: Hardly any: the bus stops at the hotel entrance, and the museum is in the same building.
- Ages: Any age for the museum and the pool. Passengers on the track have to be elementary-school age or older.
- Season: December to February give the clearest views of the mountain. June to mid-July are the cloudiest weeks.

## Getting around

Odakyu runs a direct highway bus from Busta Shinjuku, the bus terminal at Shinjuku station, right to the hotel entrance. It takes about two hours and 20 minutes, with two departures a day each way, and seats are booked ahead on Odakyu's highway bus site.

With a car it's about two hours from central Tokyo, and a car makes it simple to add Gotemba or Fuji Safari Park on the full day.

## Day 1: Shinjuku to the Speedway

The morning bus gets in around lunchtime, which leaves the afternoon for the museum downstairs and the hotel's indoor pool, with nowhere else to be.

### Afternoon: [Fuji Motorsports Museum](https://ourplayday.com/places/fuji-motorsports-museum-oyama) (give it about an hour and a half)

The first two floors of the hotel building are a museum of real race cars, from early Japanese racers to Le Mans winners and Formula One cars. It lends strollers for free and has a nursing room. A car kid can also just watch whatever's running on the track outside.

Tip: The indoor pool in the hotel's spa is free for guests, and preschoolers can swim once they're out of diapers.

- Wheelchair accessible: Yes
- Restrooms: Yes

## Day 2: A day at the track

With one full day, the morning goes to the circuit, and the afternoon can be more of the same or the outlets in Gotemba for the view.

### Morning: [Fuji Speedway](https://ourplayday.com/places/fuji-speedway-oyama) (give it about two and a half hours)

The circuit is right outside the hotel. Guests book a session on the track itself ahead of time through the hotel's website: three laps in one of the circuit's Toyota GR cars behind an official car. When we went, kids over six could ride along, in their own car seat. The circuit's current rule is elementary-school age and up, in a junior seat you bring.

For younger kids, the Welcome Center has a Mini 4WD track where they race toy cars with borrowed tools, and the rental kart track has two-seat karts for a parent and a smaller child.

- Restrooms: Yes

### Afternoon, optional: Gotemba Premium Outlets (give it about two hours)

The Gotemba outlets are a big mall south of the hotel, with Mount Fuji standing behind them on clear days and plenty of places for lunch. It's a short taxi ride from the hotel, and the Shinjuku bus stops here too, so you can also go on the way home.

## About this plan

The prose carries no prices, opening hours or ticket rules, because those change. Each place named links to its Play Day listing, which carries the kid facts (high chairs, changing tables, kids' menus, wheelchair access).
