# Best family hotels in Barcelona with kids

Written 2026-10-06 by Play Day. Twelve family hotels in Barcelona with two-bedroom suites, kitchen apartments, a rooftop pool and a beachfront kids club.

For a second bedroom with a door, Almanac Barcelona, Hotel Alma Barcelona and Monument Hotel on or just off Passeig de Gràcia. For a kitchen, Apartamentos Hispanos 7 Suiza by the Sagrada Família or Suites Avenue Barcelona. For a rooftop pool in the old town, Kimpton Vividora Hotel. For the beach, Hotel Arts Barcelona.

Barcelona is a city you do on foot and by metro, so where you sleep matters more than how fancy the lobby is. The Eixample (the grid of wide streets north of the old town) has the Gaudí buildings and the biggest rooms. The Gothic Quarter is the closest to the cathedral and the Ramblas. The beach is a separate trip unless you stay on it.

Short on time? Two bedrooms and a balcony on the main avenue: Monument Hotel. A kitchen and a washing machine: Suites Avenue Barcelona. A pool you can see the cathedral from: Kimpton Vividora Hotel. A beach and a kids club: Hotel Arts Barcelona.

## How we picked

We kept to hotels with something real for a family to use: a separate bedroom, a kitchen, connecting rooms or a pool. Distances are straight line, so allow more for the streets.

## Near the beach

One hotel here, and it is the only one in the list you can walk out of onto sand. Everything else is a metro ride from the sea.

### [Hotel Arts Barcelona](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-arts-barcelona-barcelona)

Area: Port Olímpic

Why we picked it: The only hotel here you can walk out of onto sand, with a family pool and a seasonal kids club for ages 4 to 12.

Hotel Arts Barcelona is a beachfront tower with suites, connecting rooms and, in the Arts Suite, a lounge, dining area, kitchen and king bedroom with an adjoining room available. There's a family pool (a separate pool is adults only) and a kids club for ages 4 to 12 that runs seasonally.

The Nova Icària beach is about 400 metres away in a straight line, and Parc de la Ciutadella is under a kilometre. The old town is about two kilometres straight line, so you'll use the metro or a taxi for the sights.

It doesn't suit a trip built around Gaudí: the Eixample buildings are more than two and a half kilometres away straight line.

- Connecting rooms: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes

## The Eixample, for the sights

The grid north of Plaça de Catalunya has the Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and the biggest rooms in the city. Most of the hotels here put a door between the kids and you.

### [Monument Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/monument-hotel-barcelona)

Area: Passeig de Gràcia

Why we picked it: The big family suite on Passeig de Gràcia: two bedrooms, two bathrooms and balconies, about 300 metres from Casa Batlló.

Monument Hotel's Family Suite is 88 square metres with two bedrooms, each with a small lounge, two bathrooms and balconies over Passeig de Gràcia. It sleeps five. On request the hotel will set up the room around your kids' favourite drawings and colours, and there's a concierge for family plans.

Casa Batlló is about 300 metres away in a straight line, and Plaça de Catalunya about a kilometre.

It doesn't suit anyone who wants to cook: there's no kitchen, and no pool we could confirm.

- Suites: Yes

### [Hotel Alma Barcelona](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-alma-barcelona-barcelona)

Area: Eixample

Why we picked it: The largest family suite here, 125 square metres with two separate bedrooms, with connecting rooms and cribs as backup.

The family suite at Hotel Alma Barcelona is 125 square metres with two separate bedrooms. The hotel also has connecting rooms and cribs, and the spa has an indoor pool, though we couldn't confirm it's open to kids.

La Pedrera is a block away and Casa Batlló is about 350 metres away in a straight line. Plaça de Catalunya is about a kilometre.

It doesn't suit a family that wants a place to play: it's a quiet five-star with a spa pool, not a splash.

- Cribs: Yes
- Connecting rooms: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Pool: Yes, indoor
- Indoor pool: Yes

### [Almanac Barcelona](https://ourplayday.com/places/almanac-barcelona-barcelona)

Area: Gran Via, near Plaça de Catalunya

Why we picked it: The most central of the big-room hotels: two full bedrooms joined by a private door, about 400 metres from Plaça de Catalunya.

Almanac Barcelona's family rooms are two full bedrooms with two bathrooms, joined by a private door you can leave open or shut. They're about 62 square metres. The rooftop has a bar and a small pool meant for relaxing, not for a long swim.

Plaça de Catalunya and Casa Batlló are both about 400 metres away straight line, which makes this the most central of the big-room hotels.

It doesn't suit a family that needs a kitchen, and the rooftop is more for a dip than for a kid who wants a pool day.

- Connecting rooms: Yes
- Suites: Yes

### [Hotel Granados 83](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-granados-83-barcelona)

Area: Eixample, near Diagonal

Why we picked it: The duplex pick: sofa beds for the kids downstairs, a bedroom upstairs and a terrace with a semi-private pool.

Hotel Granados 83 has duplex family rooms of 55 square metres: a living area with sofa beds on the lower level for the kids, a bedroom upstairs, and a terrace with a semi-private pool. Cribs are available.

Casa Batlló is about 700 metres away in a straight line and Plaça de Catalunya about 1.2 kilometres. The Diagonal metro is close.

It doesn't suit a toddler who has just learned stairs: the room is on two levels and the staircase is inside it.

- Cribs: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Pool: Yes

## The Gothic Quarter and Plaça de Catalunya

The old town is the closest to the cathedral, the Ramblas and the metro hub at Plaça de Catalunya.

### [Kimpton Vividora Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/kimpton-vividora-hotel-barcelona)

Area: Gothic Quarter

Why we picked it: The old-town hotel with a rooftop pool that looks over the cathedral, plus connecting Family Rooms and cribs.

Kimpton Vividora Hotel has a rooftop pool that looks over the cathedral, cribs, Family Rooms of two connecting rooms and a suite of two linked king rooms that sleeps four. The Family Room with Balcony puts a king bed in one room and two singles in the other.

The cathedral is about 300 metres away in a straight line and Plaça de Catalunya about 350 metres.

It doesn't suit a family that wants a kitchen or a beach: neither is close.

- Cribs: Yes
- Connecting rooms: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Pool: Yes

### [Hotel Regina Barcelona](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-regina-barcelona-barcelona)

Area: Plaça de Catalunya

Why we picked it: Chosen for booking connecting rooms on purpose: interconnecting rooms are a room type of their own, right by Plaça de Catalunya.

Hotel Regina Barcelona lists interconnecting rooms as a room type of their own, so two adjoining rooms are something you book on purpose rather than hope for. It's about 200 metres from Plaça de Catalunya in a straight line, which puts every metro line and the airport bus nearby.

It doesn't suit a family that wants a pool, a kitchen or a suite: it's a central hotel with connecting rooms, and that's the whole offer.

- Connecting rooms: Yes

## Apartments with a kitchen

For three nights or more, a kitchen and a washing machine do more than a lobby. These are the four with a kitchen in the unit.

### [Suites Avenue Barcelona](https://ourplayday.com/places/suites-avenue-barcelona-barcelona)

Area: Passeig de Gràcia

Why we picked it: A two-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and a washing machine, opposite La Pedrera, for a stay of three nights or more.

Suites Avenue Barcelona is serviced apartments with two bedrooms, a full kitchen and a washing machine, plus laundry on site, cribs and an outdoor seasonal pool. It sits on the same avenue as Monument Hotel, opposite La Pedrera.

Casa Batlló is about 400 metres away straight line.

It doesn't suit a family that wants anything laid on for kids: the space is the draw.

- Cribs: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes
- Laundry: Yes

### [Apartamentos Hispanos 7 Suiza](https://ourplayday.com/places/apartamentos-hispanos-7-suiza-barcelona)

Area: Sagrada Família

Why we picked it: The base for the Sagrada Família: two-bedroom apartments with a kitchen and terrace, about 300 metres away.

Apartamentos Hispanos 7 Suiza has two-bedroom apartments with a kitchen, a lounge and a terrace. The basement holds a small exhibition of classic cars from the Barcelona carmaker, which is a quick look for a kid who likes them.

The Sagrada Família is about 300 metres away in a straight line, so this is the base for it. The beach is nearly three kilometres straight line.

It doesn't suit a family that wants a pool or the old town on the doorstep.

- Suites: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes

### [Acacia Suite Hotel](https://ourplayday.com/places/acacia-suite-hotel-barcelona)

Area: Eixample, near Hospital Clínic

Why we picked it: Kitchen apartments with a rooftop pool and a metro stop outside, for a family happy to ride to the old town.

Acacia Suite Hotel is 26 apartments, each with a kitchen and fridge, and some connect to each other. There's an outdoor pool on the roof that's open in summer, and the Hospital Clínic metro stop is right outside.

Plaça de Catalunya is about 1.6 kilometres straight line, so you'll ride the metro to the old town.

It doesn't suit a family that wants to walk to the sights, and the pool is for summer only.

- Connecting rooms: Yes
- Suites: Yes
- Fridge: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes
- Pool: Yes

### [HG City Suites Barcelona](https://ourplayday.com/places/hg-city-suites-barcelona-barcelona)

Area: Gràcia

Why we picked it: The Gràcia pick: apartment suites with a kitchenette and the bedroom apart from the living room, near squares full of local kids.

HG City Suites Barcelona has apartment suites of about 45 square metres, with the bedroom apart from the living room and kitchenette. It's on the edge of Gràcia, a neighbourhood with squares full of local kids.

Casa Batlló is about 1.6 kilometres away in a straight line and the Sagrada Família about 2 kilometres.

It doesn't suit a family of four or five: the suite has one bedroom. There's no pool either.

- Suites: Yes
- Kitchenette: Yes

## Plaça d'Espanya and Montjuïc

West of the center, on the side of the city with the hill, the trade fair grounds and the Sants train station.

### [Hotel Vilamari](https://ourplayday.com/places/hotel-vilamari-barcelona)

Area: Plaça d'Espanya

Why we picked it: The base for arriving or leaving by train: family rooms with an inside door and cribs, near Plaça d'Espanya and Sants station.

Hotel Vilamari's family rooms are two rooms joined by an inside door, each with its own bathroom, at roughly 36 square metres in all. Cribs are available.

Plaça d'Espanya and its metro are about 350 metres away in a straight line, and the Sants train station about a kilometre, which suits a trip that arrives or leaves by train.

It doesn't suit a beach trip or a first visit built around the old town: both are around two to four kilometres straight line. No pool.

- Cribs: Yes
- Connecting rooms: Yes

## Pools

Kimpton Vividora Hotel has a rooftop pool, and so do Acacia Suite Hotel and Suites Avenue Barcelona, both outdoors and seasonal. Hotel Alma Barcelona has an indoor pool in its spa (we couldn't confirm kids can use it). Hotel Granados 83 has a semi-private pool on its terraces. Hotel Arts Barcelona has a family pool, with the adults-only one separate. Almanac Barcelona has a small rooftop pool.

## Two rooms, or one room with a door

Monument Hotel and Hotel Alma Barcelona have suites with two separate bedrooms. Almanac Barcelona's family rooms are two bedrooms behind one private door. Kimpton Vividora Hotel, Hotel Vilamari and Hotel Regina Barcelona do it with two rooms that connect.

## A kitchen of your own

Suites Avenue Barcelona, Apartamentos Hispanos 7 Suiza, Acacia Suite Hotel and HG City Suites Barcelona all have a kitchen. Hotel Arts Barcelona's Arts Suite has one too.

## Questions

### What's the best area to stay in Barcelona with kids?

The Eixample, around Passeig de Gràcia, for most trips. It has the Gaudí buildings, the biggest family rooms and the metro. Stay in the Gothic Quarter if the cathedral and the Ramblas matter most, and at Hotel Arts Barcelona if the beach does.

### Is a hotel or an apartment better in Barcelona with kids?

An apartment if you're staying three nights or more or have a toddler: Suites Avenue Barcelona and Apartamentos Hispanos 7 Suiza have two bedrooms and a kitchen. A hotel if you want a pool or a kids club, like Kimpton Vividora Hotel or Hotel Arts Barcelona.

### Where should we stay in Barcelona with a toddler?

Somewhere with a door between you and the bedtime. Hotel Granados 83, Hotel Alma Barcelona, Hotel Vilamari, Kimpton Vividora Hotel and Suites Avenue Barcelona all have cribs. The stairs inside Granados 83's duplex rooms are the one thing to weigh.

### Which Barcelona hotel suits a family of five?

Monument Hotel's Family Suite sleeps five, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Hotel Arts Barcelona's Arts Suite has an adjoining room you can add.

### Is there a family hotel in Barcelona near the beach?

### Are these Barcelona hotels easy with a stroller and the metro?
