# The best family hotels in Madrid

Written 2026-10-10 by Play Day. Where to stay in Madrid with kids, from family rooms by the Retiro and the Prado to aparthotels with a kitchen near Plaza de España.

Madrid serves churros with hot chocolate at any hour. The city eats late and stays up late, and the plazas are full of families well after dinner. By day there's a royal palace, the Prado, and the Retiro park with its boating lake.

The center is compact, and most of what a family does is within a half-hour walk of Sol. These hotels sit on the Retiro side, by the park and the big museums, or on the Sol and Arenal side, by the palace and the plazas. The aparthotels with kitchens are near Plaza de España, in between.

The Retiro has playgrounds as well as the boating lake.
