The best family hotels in Vienna
Written November 2026
Vienna is palaces and coffeehouses, and a lot of its kid stuff comes with history too: the world's oldest zoo at Schönbrunn, an aquarium with sharks inside an old flak tower, and the Wurstelprater fairground around a Ferris wheel built in 1897. At a few hotels here the kids get a room of their own, and one breakfast buffet sets out chocolate muesli and honey pops.
The Innere Stadt, around St. Stephen's
The Innere Stadt is Vienna's old town, inside the Ringstrasse, which follows the line of the old city walls, with St. Stephen's Cathedral in the middle. The Hofburg palace, the Volksgarten and the Butterfly House, with tropical butterflies flying free in an old palm house, are all inside the Ring. The sights are a walk from any hotel here, and the U1 and U3 lines meet at Stephansplatz.
Singerstrasse 21/25
Singerstrasse, by St. Stephen's
These serviced apartments are about 300 meters from St. Stephen's, done up in an Art Deco style. The Executive 57 and Executive 77 each have the bedroom apart from the living room and a dining table for four. The front desk is open around the clock and will warm a bottle or baby food at any hour, and there's a high chair in the breakfast room.
Haus der Musik, the music museum, is about a seven-minute walk, and To Ellinikon, a Greek restaurant by the Stadtpark with high chairs, is about 600 meters away. Schönbrunn and its zoo are eight stops out on the U4.

Landstraße, the Belvedere and the main station
Landstraße, the third district, is mostly residential, with an outdoor market, the Rochusmarkt, and Wien Mitte station at its top end. The Hundertwasserhaus is here, and the Belvedere gardens have wide lawns and terraced fountains between two palaces, with sphinx statues to count. Just past the Belvedere is the Hauptbahnhof, Vienna's main station.
Boutique Hotel Spiess & Spiess
Hainburger Strasse, Landstraße
Spiess & Spiess is on a quiet side street with a courtyard and a garden, about 100 meters from the U3 at Rochusgasse (Stephansplatz is three stops, no changes). The Junior Suite Garden side is two rooms, a double in one and bunk beds in the other, and the other two-room suites take four or five.
The organic breakfast is set out with kids in mind, with cocoa, hazelnut spread, scrambled eggs and sausages. There's a stroller to borrow if you ask when you book, and a changing mat and a potty on request. The Rochusmarkt and the Hundertwasserhaus are close by, and Luftburg Kolarik, a restaurant beside a 1,000-square-meter bouncy castle area in the Prater, is about 1.5 kilometers off.

Adina Apartment Hotel Vienna Belvedere
Canettistrasse, by the Hauptbahnhof
A short walk from the Hauptbahnhof, Adina has trams and trains right outside, easy if you're coming in by rail. The 2 Bedroom Apartment is 58 square meters for four, with two showers and a bathtub, and the two-bedroom apartments come with a private terrace.
The Belvedere is around the corner, and MuSe, a multisensory creative space for kids up to 10 with a laser labyrinth, is about 100 meters from the door. For a week with a kitchen and a washer, there's more in Vienna apartment hotels with kitchens and laundry.

Leopoldstadt, by the Prater
Leopoldstadt, the second district, sits between the Danube Canal and the Danube, and it has the Prater. The rides and the Riesenrad are at one end, and from there the Hauptallee runs all the way through the green Prater to the Lusthaus, with the little Liliputbahn train and playgrounds along the way. The Augarten, Vienna's oldest baroque park, has playgrounds too, and the streets around the Karmelitermarkt are late-19th-century houses with cafés, kosher restaurants and bars. From here the Prater is a walk and the old town a short U-Bahn ride.
Der Wilhelmshof
Kleine Stadtgutgasse, Leopoldstadt
Der Wilhelmshof works with Viennese artists, and the Premium family suites, designed by Constantin Luser, are deep forest green with wire sculptures floating under the ceiling. They sleep six, in a double and a four-bed room with two bathrooms, and the smaller Deluxe family suite puts bunk beds in a separate kids' room, for up to five.
The street is a quiet one, the nearest station (U-Bahn, trams and a direct train to the airport) is about 250 meters off, and the Prater is a few minutes on foot. Breakfast is made from regional products, and the garden was named Vienna's most beautiful guest garden. Leos Rumpelkiste, a small indoor playground, is about 500 meters away, and the Urania observatory, with its Punch and Judy show, is within walking distance.
