Privacy policy

This app helps you find places that work with kids. Play Day is run by Sparkly Empire LLC, and "we" here means Sparkly Empire LLC. Here is what it collects and why.

What we collect

• Account. If you sign in, we store your email address (or the private relay address Apple gives us) and a generated handle. Signing in is optional; browsing never requires it.
• Location. With your permission, your current location is used on your device to sort places by distance. It is sent to our server only as the center and radius of the map you are looking at, and it is not stored.
• What you contribute. Reviews, ratings, answers about a place (for example whether it has high chairs), saved places, photos you upload, and reports you file. Reviews and photos are public and shown with your handle.
• Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, request time) kept briefly for security and reliability.
• How the app and website are used. On ourplayday.com and in the app, we count page views and screens and a few actions, such as a search, a tap on Directions or a hotel's booking link, so we can see which places people look for and where to add more. It is counted in totals, with no cookies, no advertising identifiers, and no identifier that follows you from one visit or app launch to the next, and none of it is attached to your account. Search words are kept without anything that says who typed them.

What we do not do

We do not sell data, show ads, track you across other apps or websites, or use analytics that identify you.

Booking links

Hotel names on itineraries, and Book on a hotel's page, link to Booking.com through its affiliate program, which is run by CJ (Commission Junction) and pays us a commission when a stay is booked. The link tells CJ and Booking.com that it came from Play Day and from which page, and nothing about you. The link passes through CJ on its way, and once you are on Booking.com, its own privacy policy applies.

For places in Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, and for the trains and buses in our Tokyo airport guide, Book links to Klook through its affiliate program, which pays us a commission when a ticket, pass, tour or train is booked. Elsewhere, Get tickets links to Viator through its affiliate program, which pays us a commission when a ticket is booked. Each link tells the partner that it came from Play Day, and which of our pages, and nothing about you. Once you are on Klook or Viator, its own privacy policy applies.

Some guides end with a short list of things we pack, each linking to its page on Amazon through Amazon's Influencer Program, which pays us a commission when something is bought after the tap. The link tells Amazon that it came from Play Day and nothing about you; once you are on Amazon, its own privacy policy applies.

When a booking or product link is tapped we note which page it was on and which partner it went to, with no identifier of any kind, so we can see which pages are useful and match a partner's commission report back to a page.

Where data lives

Data is stored with Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States). Photos are stored in the same service. Place information also comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, published guides, and business owners; that is not personal data.

Your choices

• Delete your account any time from Profile. Your reviews, photos, and saved places are removed.
• Turn location off in iOS Settings; the app then starts from the city center.
• Block other users and report content from any review.

Children

The app is for parents and caregivers. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
