Where to stay in Edmonton with kids
Written October 2026

Edmonton is the city with a waterpark, a roller coaster and an ice rink inside one mall, West Edmonton Mall. Out past it there's a steam train at Fort Edmonton Park, and bison roam Elk Island National Park a short drive east.
Two of these hotels are out in the west end by the mall. Downtown sits on the north side of the North Saskatchewan River valley, a long green belt of trails and parks, and on the south side Whyte Avenue is Old Strathcona's main street of cafés and shops.
At West Edmonton Mall
Fantasyland Hotel
West Edmonton Mall
You can sleep in an igloo here, in the bed of a pickup truck, or in bunks built into a pirate ship (the Luxury Pirate room looks out over the waterpark). Most of the family theme rooms put a set of bunks beside a queen or a king, and the Truck room adds a futon that folds out in the cab.
World Waterpark, with its wave pool and slides, and the rides at Galaxyland are both inside the mall, so you get there from the lobby without going outdoors.
