The best family hotels in Halifax
Written October 2026

Halifax is all about its harbor. That's where the boardwalk, the playgrounds and the ice cream are, and the ferry to Dartmouth makes a great short boat ride. The Maritime Museum is there too, and Citadel Hill and the Public Gardens sit above it all.
The boardwalk runs for a few kilometers along the harbor, and almost every hotel on this list is a short walk from it. Nearly every hotel here has an indoor pool too, and for a longer stay we'd look at the suites and kitchenettes.

Westin Nova Scotian
South end, by the train station
The old railway hotel at the south end of the boardwalk, beside the station and the Seaport farmers' market. The Pier 21 immigration museum is a few minutes' walk.
