The best family hotels in Berlin
Written November 2026
Berlin has playgrounds tucked into its parks, from a big wooden pirate ship near Charlottenburg Palace to a dragon in Friedrichshain and a sandy one under a giant rainbow in the Mauerpark. The technology museum has whole halls of old locomotives, and the Labyrinth Kindermuseum is a hands-on museum made for kids from 2. A lot of the family stays here are really apartments, with a kitchen, a second bedroom and even kids' bikes to rent.
Mitte
Mitte is where Berlin started. Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate and the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz are all here, and every museum on the island runs tours and workshops made for kids. These hotels are up in the north of Mitte, around Invalidenstraße and Rosenthaler Platz, right on the edge of Prenzlauer Berg. You can walk to a lot from here, and the U-Bahn and trams cover the rest.

Gorki Apartments
Weinbergsweg
The way in is a plain doorway between two cafés, with a neon Gorki sign, and behind it is an apartment house from the early 20th century with mosaic tiles and a calm courtyard at the back. Each apartment has its own doorbell and mailbox, and the two-bedroom family apartment is 80 square meters for four. Kids get their own little robes and slippers.
Zeit für Brot, the bakery, is across the street, and Volkspark am Weinberg runs right alongside Weinbergsweg with a rose garden and a climbing area for kids. The playground on Arkonaplatz is about 700 meters away, and Rosenthaler Platz station is a few minutes' walk.

Charlottenburg and the Kurfürstendamm
The Kurfürstendamm is West Berlin's famous shopping boulevard. It starts at Breitscheidplatz by the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, with the KaDeWe department store around the corner and Zoo Berlin and the Tiergarten just past it. Charlottenburg around it is classy and a little older, with prewar buildings that have room for apartment-style family stays. Zoologischer Garten station has the S-Bahn, the U-Bahn and the 100 bus.
DoubleTree by Hilton Berlin Ku'damm
Los-Angeles-Platz
The DoubleTree's Family Room is two bedrooms joined by a connecting door, a king in one and two singles in the other, each with its own bathroom, and the breakfast buffet is organic.
Zoo Berlin is about 650 meters away, the Memorial Church and the Europa-Center are a short walk, and Augsburger Straße is the closest U-Bahn stop.

Louisa's Place
Kurfürstendamm
Louisa's Place has 47 suites on the Kurfürstendamm, with the Adenauerplatz U-Bahn right in front. Most have balconies, and some are glassed in and big enough for a table and chairs. Breakfast is in a room with long windows over the courtyard garden, and the pool down in the basement has a painted mural, loungers and set times for families and kids every day.
The hotel rents out kids' bikes, bike seats and helmets, and has plastic plates and cups for kids and stools for the bathroom. There are playgrounds on the side streets, and a kids' café with a play corner nearby. KaDeWe and Charlottenburg Palace are 10 to 15 minutes by train.

SANA Berlin Hotel
Nürnberger Straße
SANA has a heated indoor pool, a sauna with a panoramic view and a gym, and the U-Bahn is a couple of minutes' walk.
For more space than a pair of connecting rooms, there are one- and two-bedroom residences. Spielplatz Sherwood Forest, a climbing castle with rope bridges and platforms up in the trees, is about a kilometer away on Knesebeckstraße.

Friedrichshain, on the Spree
Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg face each other across the Spree, joined by the Oberbaum Bridge, which was a border crossing on foot while the city was divided. On the Friedrichshain bank, the East Side Gallery is the longest stretch of the Berlin Wall still standing, about 1.3 kilometers of it, painted by 118 artists from 21 countries after the Wall fell. A hotel here is on the river with the Wall at the door, and Volkspark Friedrichshain has an adventure playground.
nhow Berlin
Stralauer Allee
nhow is a music hotel right on the bank of the Spree, and you can get a guitar or a keyboard sent up to your room. It suits older kids and teens, and the Family Room Riverside looks out on the river. Breakfast can be outside, right at the water.
The East Side Gallery starts a few minutes' walk away, and Warschauer Straße is the nearest station. Across the Oberbaum Bridge in Kreuzberg, Spielplatz Wrangelstraße has a shallow paddling pool, about 1.5 kilometers from the hotel.
