Tokyo with kids: a hotel or an apartment?
Written October 2026

Families in Tokyo can pick a hotel room or an apartment with its own kitchen, and the apartment chains blur the line. MIMARU, MONday Apart, Hyatt House and KOKO Residence are hotels that happen to have a kitchen and beds for four to six in one unit, a washing machine in the apartment or the building, and a front desk. For a family of four or more, or any stay over three nights, they're our pick.
An ordinary hotel is right for a short stay, for a family of three, or when you'd rather have a pool, a breakfast buffet and a big lobby than a washer.
