The best family hotels in Bangkok
Written November 2026
Bangkok has tons for kids: Safari World, where you spot lions and giraffes from the bus, and a history museum with a room full of traditional Thai toys. Some of its hotels have built suites just for families, themed on Thai animals or the sea, and one has a playhouse with a slide in a room over the river.
For a pool a small kid can stand up in, see Bangkok hotels with pools that make sense for young kids.
On the river
Charoen Krung became Bangkok's first paved street in 1864, and it still runs along the river, past galleries and cafés. Down here you get around on the Chao Phraya. Sathorn Pier for the river boats sits next to Saphan Taksin Skytrain station, and the express boat runs up the river to the Grand Palace, with a short ferry across to Wat Arun. Asiatique, a market on the riverbank, has a giant Ferris wheel.
Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok
Charoen Krung
The Mandarin Oriental opened as The Oriental in 1876, and it now sits on both banks of the river, with free shuttle boats going back and forth. The Premier Two-Bedroom Suite has a king bedroom and a twin bedroom, two marble bathrooms and a pantry, with balconies over the water, and two Deluxe Premier Rooms in the River Wing connect into 86 square meters for up to six.
Breakfast is a buffet at The Verandah, which has a children's menu, and so does Sala Rim Naam. HarborLand ICONSIAM, with ball pits and slides on the sixth floor of a mall, is just across the river.

The Questers Krungthep Family Room is a king room with a river view and a playhouse inside, slide and all. On weekends NEXT2 Café sets up a kids' counter at its buffet.

Siam
Siam is where Bangkok goes shopping, with Siam Paragon, MBK and CentralWorld close together around Siam Skytrain station, and an aquarium under Siam Paragon. The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and Jim Thompson House, a cluster of six old teak houses, are in Siam too. Hotels here have the malls and the Skytrain on their doorstep.
Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok
Rama I Road
Seven family suites at Siam Kempinski are themed on Thai animals, each with hand-drawn illustrations by the Thai artist Suthipa Kamyam and its own stash of board games, books and drawing things. Six of them have two bedrooms (Kingo the Monkey, Katty the Tiger and Kao Kao the Panda among them), and Kaja the Elephant has one bedroom. All seven come with the executive lounge, afternoon tea included.
The hotel is next to Sra Pathum Palace, every room looks out over the hotel's gardens and pools, and about 2,000 pieces of art hang around the place, more than 200 of them made for it by Thai artists. About 400 meters away, Playmondo CentralWorld has play zones themed on the desert, the ocean, the forest and a volcano.

Siam Square
Novotel is on Siam Square Soi 6, about two minutes on foot from Siam station, and SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World under Siam Paragon is a minute or two from the door. Its Mezzanine Suite has a king bedroom, a living room with a dining table for six, and two single beds for kids up on a raised mezzanine behind a glass partition, so you can still see them.
Up to two kids under 16 stay free in their parents' room, and any room with a king or queen has a sofa the hotel makes up as a kid's bed at no charge. It's about 450 meters to Playerbox Siam Discovery, which has go-karts and a real digger to drive.

Ratchadamri and Lumphini Park
Ratchadamri Road runs south from Siam's malls to Lumphini, Bangkok's first public park, with pedal swan boats on the lake and monitor lizards lounging by the water. The side streets around the park are quieter, with embassies and cafés, and Siam's shopping is still a walk away.
Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel
Ratchadamri Road
Ratchadamri Skytrain station is at the door of Anantara Siam, which sits on former royal land facing the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. It opened in 1983 and was the Regent and then the Four Seasons before it was Anantara, and Siam Paragon is about 15 minutes' walk.
The two-bedroom suites put a king bedroom and a twin bedroom off one living room, and the Two Bedroom Royal Suite has golf course views. The Two Bedroom Garden Pool Villa has a garden and a private pool of its own.
