The best family hotels in Brooklyn
Written November 2026

Brooklyn has a kid world all its own: Prospect Park with its zoo, a 1912 carousel and a lakeside splash pad, the Brooklyn Children's Museum, which opened in 1899 as the first children's museum anywhere, and a shark tunnel at the New York Aquarium. A few of the hotels get into it too, setting up kids' tents and a star projector at one and bringing a free kids' breakfast bag at another.
DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights
DUMBO is cobblestone streets under the Manhattan Bridge, one of the most photographed corners of New York, with galleries, brunch and coal-oven pizza. Brooklyn Heights next door is quiet blocks of row houses and a promenade over the East River. Below both, Brooklyn Bridge Park runs 85 acres along the water, with playgrounds out on the piers (Slide Mountain and the Water Lab at Pier 6, swings at Pier 2), and the Brooklyn Bridge walkway takes you over to Manhattan on foot.
1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge
Brooklyn Bridge Park
The 1 Hotel is inside Brooklyn Bridge Park at the foot of the bridge, with a plunge pool up on the roof. The Starlit Sleepover package sets up a tent for each child (up to two), a star projector, cookies and milk, and a movie night with popcorn and candy.
The Skyline 1 Bedroom Suite sleeps four as well, with the Manhattan skyline out the window. Juliana's Pizza is about 600 feet away, and Jane's Carousel is under a quarter mile up the waterfront.

Downtown Brooklyn and Boerum Hill
Downtown Brooklyn is part business district, part tree-lined brownstone blocks, with the Fulton Street Mall for shopping and subway lines in every direction. Just south, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens are residential.
NU Hotel Brooklyn
Boerum Hill
NU sits on the corner of Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue, right where Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens meet. The Bunk-Bed Suite has a café table for breakfast in and a blackboard in the bathroom, and the hotel lends bikes for riding around the neighborhood.
The A, C, F and G trains are all a short walk. The New York Transit Museum, in an old subway station with vintage cars to walk through, is about 750 feet away, and so is One Girl Cookies, which makes a cake decorated with a lion, a tiger or a bear.

New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge
Downtown Brooklyn
Rooms at the Marriott are about 400 square feet, a lot bigger than most hotel rooms across the river, with space for a crib and a rollaway. Some look out at both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, and rooms can be put together for a bigger group.
Nine subway lines are two to five minutes on foot, and the Brooklyn Bridge is about ten. The playground at McLaughlin Park, with spray showers, is about 1,200 feet away, and under half a mile off is Junior's, the original neon diner, with New York cheesecake for dessert.

Williamsburg and Greenpoint
Williamsburg is Brooklyn's hipster side, with indie music, galleries and shops run by local makers, and a waterfront where the old Domino Sugar refinery is now a park. Greenpoint, just north, puts old Polish restaurants and bakeries next to new ones (Peter Pan's red velvet doughnuts) and has the big lawns of McGolrick Park. Both look across the river at Manhattan, and the L train and the ferry go straight over.
The Hoxton, Williamsburg
Williamsburg
The Hoxton's Tiny Hox program is pretty thorough for babies. Stays with kids up to 2 come with a welcome tote, the Little'uns Breakfast Bag is delivered to your door free, and on request there are bottle warmers, a baby bath, diapers and wipes, freezer space for milk, and board games.
With an older kid, the Cosy Twin has two twin beds, and the Manhattan View rooms face the skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows. The L stops at Bedford Avenue, and Domino Park's playground, built to look like the old sugar factory, is just over half a mile south.

The William Vale
Williamsburg
All the rooms at the William Vale have their own balcony, and every suite sleeps four. The Manhattan View Corner Suite's wraparound balcony is 309 square feet, nearly as big as the suite inside. Vale Park, the hotel's raised lawn and gardens, is open for kids to roam.
Kids can swim in the 60-foot rooftop pool in the mornings. Bushwick Inlet Park's playground is about a quarter mile away, and Space Club Greenpoint, about 0.6 miles, is an art installation turned play space with a ball pit and a sequin wall.

The Box House Hotel
Greenpoint
The Box House is a converted factory on a quiet residential street at the top of Greenpoint, beside the Pulaski Bridge. The lofts and suites have high ceilings and big pull-out sofas, the two-bedroom apartments sleep six, and the best rooms have huge decks looking over the river toward Midtown.
Stairs by the hotel go up onto the bridge and over to Queens, where Gantry Plaza State Park's playground has a pirate-ship climber, and WNYC Transmitter Park's playground on the Greenpoint waterfront is about two-thirds of a mile.
