The best family hotels in Lisbon
Written October 2026
Where to sleep in Lisbon with kids, which neighbourhood to pick and which room to ask for.
Picture it: you've booked flights to Lisbon, and now you're choosing between a hotel on a steep cobbled hill and one on a flat waterfront. That's the real decision here. The old city is beautiful and hard on a stroller. Parque das Nações is flat and easy and a metro ride away from the old stuff.
So pick the neighbourhood first and the hotel second. Baixa and Chiado are flat enough, central and close to the castle. Parque das Nações has the aquarium and the science museum at your door. Belém is out by the river, quiet and a long way from the rest.
Short on time? A kids club in Chiado: Martinhal Chiado. A kids club and an indoor heated pool by the aquarium: Martinhal Oriente. Free breakfast and a kitchenette in the old town: The Lisboans.
How we picked
These are the hotels on our Lisbon listings that work for people with kids. The facts under each one come from its Play Day listing. If a fact is missing, we couldn't confirm it (not that the answer is no).
We didn't pad the list. Six is what we can stand behind, so the rest of Lisbon's hotels are left to you and a good map.
The old center: Chiado, Baixa and Alfama
For a first trip, stay here. The castle, the market on the river and the garden playground in Estrela are all a taxi ride or a walk away. The streets are steep, so ask for a taxi at the door.
Martinhal Lisbon Chiado
Chiado
The one built around kids. There's a kids club, and the suites come with a kitchenette, so snacks, bottles and an early dinner don't depend on a restaurant. Chiado is a classic Lisbon neighbourhood, with the market hall on the river a short walk down the hill.
The hill is the catch: it's a steep walk back up, with a stroller or without.

The Lisboans
Baixa and Alfama
A good pick for the budget-minded who still want space. Free breakfast, a crib and suites with a kitchenette, a short walk from the foot of the castle hill.

Grape Harbor Prata Apartments
Baixa
Apartments in the flat grid of Baixa, with a fridge and a kitchenette. Flat matters here: you can push a stroller out the door in any direction, and the riverfront and the main squares are close by.
The listing doesn't say whether there's a crib, so ask before you book.

By the aquarium at Parque das Nações
Flat, modern and a short metro ride from the old city. The aquarium and the science museum are both within walking distance of the hotel.
Martinhal Lisbon Oriente
Parque das Nações
The pool is the draw: it's an indoor heated pool, and the hotel has a kids club too, so wet days are handled. There's a crib, suites and a kitchenette.
The catch is distance. It's well out of the old city, so you'll ride the metro to the castle and the market. For a trip built around the aquarium, it's the one.

On the avenue and out in Belém
Two quieter picks, for a different kind of trip.
Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon
Parque Eduardo VII
The splurge: a grand hotel beside Parque Eduardo VII, with a crib and an indoor heated pool. It's a short ride from the old center, and the big park next door is somewhere to let a kid run.

Famous Crows Lisbon Suites
Belém
Suites with a fridge, in Belém. Belém is out by the river, a long way from the old center and the aquarium, so it's for a quieter trip, not the one with the plan above.

Pools, and who can use them
Only the Martinhal at Oriente and the Four Seasons Ritz have a pool on our listings, and both are indoor and heated. The rest don't have one that we can confirm.
Getting in from the airport
The metro's red line runs from the airport to Oriente, the station for Parque das Nações. For the old center, a taxi is the easy way in with luggage and kids.
