The best family hotels in Vancouver
Written October 2026
Where to sleep in Vancouver with kids, which room to ask for and which neighbourhood suits which trip.
Picture it: you've landed, you're hauling a stroller and a sleeping kid off the train, and the hotel you picked turns out to be a ten-minute uphill walk from anything. Vancouver is small enough that this is easy to avoid. Pick the neighbourhood first, then the room.
The room matters more than the hotel here. Downtown rooms are often compact, so the answer is a suite with a kitchenette, a pair of connecting rooms or a fridge for the morning milk. Several of the hotels below have exactly that.
Short on time? Suites and an indoor pool: Century Plaza. Connecting rooms and a heated pool on the waterfront: Coast Coal Harbour or Pinnacle. A kitchenette and laundry on site: Rosedale on Robson or Times Square Suites. The splurge: Fairmont Waterfront.
How we picked
These are hotels we'd send a friend with two kids to. The facts under each one come from its Play Day listing. If a fact is missing, we couldn't confirm it (not that the answer is no).
We left out places that are lovely but built for two. For the days themselves, our 3 days in Vancouver plan runs from any of these.
Coal Harbour and the waterfront
The water side of downtown, with the seawall at your door, Stanley Park a walk away and Canada Place and the cruise ships down the other end. It's the prettiest base, and a good fit for a first trip.
Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel by APA
Coal Harbour
The one to book for space and a swim: connecting rooms for the family that needs two, and a heated pool for after the seawall walk. Ask for a harbour-side room if the mountains matter.
It sits between downtown and Stanley Park, so the aquarium and the playgrounds are an easy day from here.

Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront
Coal Harbour
A mid-size hotel by Canada Place with an indoor heated pool and connecting rooms. It's a short walk to Flyover and the SkyTrain, so it works well for a few days without a car.
There's no kitchenette, so count on eating out.

Fairmont Pacific Rim
Coal Harbour
A very polished hotel next to Canada Place, with a pool and cribs. It isn't a place that does much for kids on its own, so you're here for the location and the harbour.

The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver
Coal Harbour
A big resort-style hotel on the water at the park end of Coal Harbour, with a pool. The seawall to Stanley Park starts almost at the door, which is the real selling point with kids.
- Pool
- Yes
The West End and English Bay
A leafy residential neighbourhood between downtown and Stanley Park, with the beach at English Bay at one end. It's quieter than the waterfront and the closest to the park.
Blue Horizon Hotel
West End
A tower of suites with an indoor pool and a fridge in the room, and a crib on request. The bigger suites give kids a bit of a door to close at bedtime.
Robson Street's restaurants are on your doorstep, and Stanley Park is a walk or a short ride.

Times Square Suites Hotel
West End
The practical pick: suites with a kitchenette, and laundry on site, near Stanley Park. For a week with kids, that kitchenette and the washer are worth a lot more than a lobby.
It's on the park side of the West End, so the playgrounds are a morning stroll.

Downtown and Yaletown
The middle of the city, with the SkyTrain, restaurants and the False Creek ferries close. Yaletown is the easy end for the water and the playgrounds.
Century Plaza Hotel
Yaletown
The all-rounder: suites with kitchenettes, connecting rooms, a fridge, cribs and an indoor heated pool. If you want one hotel that has most of what a trip with kids needs, this is it.
It's on the edge of Yaletown, a short walk from the False Creek ferries and the playgrounds along the water.

Granville Island
The one hotel on the peninsula itself. You trade a short ride from the SkyTrain for the market, the Kids Market and the ferries on your doorstep.
Granville Island Hotel
Granville Island
A waterfront hotel on the island, which means day one of the plan starts when you open the door. We don't have its room details, so ask about a family room or a crib before you book.
Pools
Century Plaza, Blue Horizon, Pinnacle, Rosedale on Robson and La Grande Residence all list an indoor pool, and Coast Coal Harbour and Fairmont Waterfront a heated one. Check the listing for each hotel's pool hours.
Getting in from the airport
The Canada Line train runs from the airport straight into downtown, so every hotel in the downtown, waterfront and Yaletown sections is a short walk or ride from a station.
